| The children planted 4 kinds of vegetables; tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers
and winter melons at the Kazenoko Baby Home garden. While inquiring about
the planting depth and the untangling of roots, “Like this?” the children
actively helped and got the job done quickly. After we went back to the
Jidokan, we made markers for the vegetables. When one child asked, “What
color is the stem of the eggplant?”, another gave such an unusual answer
, “Green?” Children who didn’t know what a watermelon was, were curious
and researched its color and shape in an illustrated book. We hope to grow
delicious vegetables by watering and weeding properly! |
